Buff tailed Bumblebee

Buff tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris), they're the biggest bees we have in the UK. We have 24 species of bumblebee in the UK and something like 250 species of bees generally, most of them solitary species. These ones live underground in colonies. Lovely bombebomps. I love painting insects, I get a close up view of these beasts which so often pass by hardly noticed. They're intricate, weird and beautiful, occasionally terrifying. Imagine if they were as big as us, we'd be cacking it! Acrylics on wooden board 60cms (ish) diameter. This is for my sister but can be done similarly on request.
